Google AdWords is now a critical part of online marketing. It supports and integrates with most current trends including mobile Internet browsing.
The mobile and tablet capability of Google AdWords is the main reason for its rapid growth. According to Google, mobile Internet use has increased fourfold in the last year and is now a major target for AdWords advertising. By installing a snippet of code on the pages, advertisers can see which campaigns, ad groups and keywords led to the customer making a call, enabling them to design AdWords tools that will increase the number of calls in the future.
Another Adwords strategy currently on the rise in popularity is Google's +1 feature for ads. This capability for was specially designed for Display Network ads, as advertisers are quickly discovering that personal recommendations are now playing a big part in advertising. By running mobile-only publicity campaigns, advertisers can collect information on how customers interact with AdWords and gain valuable feedback via the +1 feature. Google's +1 lets people share link recommendations with their friends on the search results pages as well as AdWords ads. This is similar to social ads in Facebook that pick up “likes”, but an ad on the Google Display Network also has the potential to link social connections and increase visibility to those who can see that a friend or contact has recommended it. One of the problems with this at the moment is the lack of a feedback loop to the advertiser.
Finally, Google now offers information via email about special deals and promotions every day to people who choose to sign up for the service. Advertisers can also link their offers to AdWords in Google Offers. People who sign up for Google Offers can pick between a number of different categories and subcategories to determine the information they receive. Somewhat similar to the growing popularity of daily emailed deal companies such as Groupon and LivingSocial, the Adwords integration can be a big opportunity for online advertisers.
